A young form three
student was mudered last night in Kamboo village,
Igembe Central sub-county. Denis
Kirimi, a second year student at Mt.
Kenya University murdered his
girlfriend before taking his own life.
“They came home on Wednesday
evening and I cooked some eggs for
them as usual they are used to spend
their night at my daughters house
when Kirimi is on holidays so I didn’t
bother them much only to find them
dead the following day,” said Joyce
Muthenya, the girl’s mother.
When they stopped by before going to
the girl’s house that night, they all
looked jovial. The teary-eyed mother
said that she did not notice any
quarrel between them.
“They looked happy and my daughter
did not hint anything to me until she
was murdered. Her body was lying
naked on the bed with a bed sheet tied
around her neck a clear indication she
was struggled,” said Muthenya.
She said they suspected Kirimi
committed suicide by taking a
herbicide after they found an empty
sachet of the chemical on the table
and a bottle of a used juice.
“We had to break the door after waking
them up without an answer and that’s
when we discovered something was
wrong at noon,” her mother added.
Area Chief Jonathan Kirimi said
investigations have been launched but
preliminary report revealed that the
deceased had issued murder threats
to his lover accusing her of cheating.
According to a villager Gitonga
M’Ituuru, the deceased was allegedly
heard claiming that someone was
cheating with his girlfriend
Kirimi’s father Geoffrey Meeme said
the news of his son’s death had
shocked him since he knew he was in
school.
