- The
Head of the Catholic Church, Pope
Francis, has today confirmed that
he will visit Kenya as well as
confirmed the dates of his tour.
In May this year, the Pope said that
he will try and fix Kenya in his tour
to Africa but he has now revealed
his exact itinerary.
“The Pope will visit Kenya in
November 25-27; Uganda in
November 27-29; and the Central
African Republic November 29-30,"
his office in Vatican said on
Thursday.
The Pontiff’s visit is hugely
anticipated in the country especially
by the large number of Catholics
based in Kenya.
It is estimated that just over 47% of
Kenyan Christians belong to the
Catholic religion.
President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is a
devoted Catholic, is among millions
of Kenyans who are waiting
anxiously for the papal visit in
November.
The Pope’s visit is expected to boost
tourism to Kenya since most
European tourists have
been keeping off Kenya due to
travel advisories and Al Shabaab
threats.
